LONGDALE, Okla. (May 16, 2025) — Steven Richardson kicked off his 2025 United Rebel Sprint Series campaign in winning fashion Friday night at Longdale Speedway, dominating the caution-free A-Feature to score his first victory of the season. The triumph marked the 19th of Richardson’s URSS career, tying him for eighth on the all-time series win list.
After qualifying second in his group and cruising to a heat race win, Richardson started on the pole of the 20-lap main event and never looked back. He led every lap in a flag-to-flag run that lasted just over ten minutes, holding off early pressure from Jordan Knight and steadily building a comfortable lead to the checkered flag.
Knight continued his strong early-season form with a runner-up finish, having earlier set quick time in his qualifying group and won his heat. Whit Gastineau — who found victory lane at Longdale last fall — was solid all night and completed the podium in third.
Jeremy Campbell and Jake Martens rounded out the top five, while Ty Williams, who qualified strong and looked fast early, slipped to sixth by night’s end. The field of 11 URSS competitors kept it clean throughout the night, making for an efficient and competitive program.
For Richardson, the win was a major confidence booster and a reminder that he’s still a serious contender in the URSS ranks — now just one win away from the 20-win milestone.
The United Rebel Sprint Series will be back in action Saturday night, May 17, for Night Two at Longdale Speedway, as Richardson looks to go back-to-back and continue his climb up the series’ all-time leaderboard.
